Radiologists
A radiologist is a physician that uses various imaging technologies, such as Ultrasound, CT scans, MRI, nuclear medicine, or digital X-Ray, to diagnose and/or treat various diseases and disorders. Radiology is subdivided into many fields in which radiologists may sub-specialize in order to treat particular conditions, parts of the body, or types of patients. Radiologists have successfully completed at least 13 years of post-high school education, including four years of undergraduate study, four years of medical school (and physician licensure), and five years of post-graduate training – which includes a four year residency program. Then, some radiologists enter into sub-specialty training programs, called fellowships, which are usually one or two years long. The fellowship training programs are in areas such as abdominal imaging, thoracic imaging, CT/Ultrasound, MRI, musculoskeletal imaging, interventional radiology, neuroradiology, interventional neuroradiology, pediatric radiology, mammography and women's imaging (many of the radiologists at Radiology Ltd. are sub-specialists).
Radiologists are certified by the American Board of Radiologists (ABR) in areas such as Radiation Oncology and Diagnostic Radiology and its' sub-specialties, which include Neuroradiology, Nuclear Radiology, Pediatric Radiology, and Vascular and Interventional Radiology (many of the radiologists at Radiology Ltd. are sub-specialists and are board-certified).
Body Imaging
Radiologists with expertise in Body Imaging are specialists in cross-sectional imaging techniques that are used to diagnose conditions affecting the chest, abdomen, and pelvis. Many also have extensive experience in image-guided biopsies and drainage procedures.
Breast Imaging
Radiologists with expertise in Breast Imaging and Intervention are specialists in the diagnosis and treatment of breast disease. They provide expert interpretation in mammography, as well as ultrasound and MRI of the breast. Many also have extensive experience in image-guided biopsy procedures (breast MRI biopsy, stereotactic breast biopsy, and ultrasound-guided breast biopsy), with an emphasis on both patient safety and comfort.
Interventional
Radiologists with expertise in Interventional Radiology specialize in the performance of a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures involving the blood vessels and multiple other body parts. These procedures include angioplasty/stent placement, chemoembolization, radiofrequency ablation, vertebroplasty, and many others.
Musculoskeletal
Radiologists with expertise in Musculoskeletal Radiology are specialists in the diagnosis of disease processes affecting the bones and joints. They provide expert interpretation of standard radiographs and MRI images to detect subtle abnormalities involving the bones and surrounding tissues.
Neuroradiology
Radiologists with expertise in Diagnostic Neuroradiology are specialists in the diagnosis and treatment of disease processes affecting the brain, head/neck region, and spine. They provide expert interpretation of CT and MRI images of these areas, and also have extensive experience in myelography, angiography, and spinal injection procedures.
Nuclear Medicine
Radiologists with expertise in PET/Nuclear Medicine are specialists in techniques that use radiopharmaceuticals to diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions. These techniques often provide important physiologic information about body processes that cannot be obtained with standard radiographic techniques.
